The 15 Activators Of Favour – Part 1
*TOPIC:* *A Good Understanding Of Scripture*
📖 *Scripture Reading*
Proverbs 13:15 Proverbs 3:3-4
Psalm 111:10
Psalm 5:12
From the introduction, we saw that favour is activated before it is manifested. In my book, The 15 Possibilities of Favour, I laboured by the Spirit to show you what you stand to benefit when the favour of God is at work in your life.
In this devotional, I'm now bringing you in touch with the practicalities of working in favour.
Many confess favour and talk about favour, but do not seem to walk in the reality of it. It is one thing to know what is available, and it is another thing to make it obtainable.
So the essence of this devotional is to show you how you can activate seasons of favour in your life. As I said in the previous devotional, there are people who wait for favour to manifest, but there are also people who activate favour to manifest.
The essence of the light you are to receive in this devotional, beginning from this first chapter, is how you can activate the dimension of favour that you seek to experience.
As I said in the introduction, I will be unveiling to you fifteen activators of divine favour from the scripture. There are so many people we see in scripture who walked in the favour of God. They carried the fragrance of favour in their lives, and I want you to follow them.
I am desirous that you walk in that same favour. The essence of this teaching is to position you with insight, light, and understanding, so that you stand in a place where you don't wait for favour, but you command favour. Don't ever forget that favour is activated before it is manifested. Everyone walking in favour today activated that favour.
*Your Giving Activates Your Season of Favour*
One of the things we are going to see in this teaching is that your giving activates your seasons of favour. You don't wait for your season of favour, you activate it. And one of the ways to activate it is through your giving.
Let me give you a very fresh example. Recently, my mentor and coach in the ministry, Pastor Aubrey Mwasinga, was having a conference in Zimbabwe. Before they left, I told him that I was waiting for some money so that I could plant a seed into their conference. By the time they travelled to hold the conference, I didn't have that money in my hands. But when they came back from that conference, I planted a seed with what I had at that time, it wasn't even up to a hundred thousand, but I planted it.
A week after I planted that seed, I was hosting a two-day conference in Blantyre. We were not happy with that venue because of a lot of constraints around it. By the time we were finishing that meeting, a minister who was part of those ministering looked up to me and said, "Next year's venue, we're going to do it at Golden peacock Hotel, and I'm going to make the payment next month." That is almost close to five million.
What happened? When I stepped out to plant that seed into the conference of another man of God, God stirred the heart of another man of God to pay for our conference in June 2027, ahead of time, to the tune of a million. Why? Because every season of favour is activated before it is manifested, and one way you can activate favour is through your giving.
*The First Activator: A Good Understanding of Scriptures*
The first activator of favour is a good understanding of scriptures. Beloved, a journey into favour starts with a good understanding of the Word of God. You cannot walk in the realm of favour if you lack understanding of the scriptures. In fact, a good understanding of scripture is the fountain of favour.
When I got born again around 2004, one of the first things God gave me to understand was the reality of favour, and I began to experience the favour of God at that time, just like the testimony I shared, where somebody comes and says, "I'm going to pay for your event next year, and I'm going to pay in a few days, over four million." That's the favour of God. And I didn't start walking in that favour today, I started walking in it almost twenty years ago, as soon as I was born again.
What I've realised is that the more I grow and increase in my understanding of the Word of God, the more I experience the favour of God at a higher level.
There is what is called high-voltage favour, where people wonder, "Why is it that you are the only one walking in that kind of favour?" That happens when you understand scriptures.
*Good Understanding Gives Favour*
Proverbs 13:15. It says,
> "Good understanding gives favour, but the way of transgressors is hard."
I said in my book, The 15 Possibilities of Favour, that favour is a terminator of hardship. You can't be walking in favour and walking in hardship at the same time. If you're walking in hardship, all you need is the introduction of favour into your life, because when favour is introduced, struggles are reduced.
But notice it is good understanding that gives favour, not just understanding, but good understanding. When we write an exam, there are gradings: average, good, very good, excellent. We can move from good understanding to very good understanding, and on to excellent understanding of scriptures.
Every increase in understanding of scripture results in an increase in your experience of favour.
I realised at a point that all of us enjoy favour, but not at the same level. For some it can be 30 percent, for others 60 percent, for others 100 percent. We don't all experience favour at the same level because our level of understanding of God's Word is not always the same.
_It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, Luke 1:3_
*A Testimony: The Travel Allowance*
Let me share a testimony I normally use to illustrate this understanding of favour. There was a spiritual daughter of mine who was supposed to travel to Nairobi for school, she was doing a degree program, and it was a personal initiative for her.
When she was about to travel for some classes, the company bought her an air ticket, but she needed a travel allowance for the trip.
The accountant told her that company policy only allowed them to buy her air ticket, but they couldn't pay for her travel allowance because this was a self-initiated academic endeavour. So she went to the country director, and the country director quoted the same policy. From there, she came to my office and explained the story. I prayed for her and told her to go back to the office.
She went back to the same office that had rejected her, and the man said, "Although policy says you're not qualified for this travel allowance, in your case, we are giving it to you." The travel allowance was given to her, and she travelled to Kenya and came back.
When she returned, she came to my office and asked, "Sir, do you remember the prayer you prayed?" I told her no, I pray for many people, so I couldn't remember exactly what I prayed. She said, "This is how you prayed. You quoted Psalm 5:12, which says, 'For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.' And then you prayed, 'Oh Lord, favour her on my behalf.'"
She told me that was the first time she had heard that scripture, and after I prayed it, she experienced the favour. What birthed that favour was the good understanding of scripture on favour that I carried, I even quoted a scripture she said she had never heard before.
*You Cannot Experience Favour Above Your Understanding*
Listen to this, beloved: you can never experience or enjoy favour above your understanding of scriptures. That is why you must always pray to understand scriptures and immerse yourself in the Word. Because of my busy schedule, I make sure that, for instance, as I'm travelling, I listen to scripture in audio form.
The whole book of 1 John takes about fifteen minutes to play. If I'm travelling for an hour, I'll listen to that book almost four times. What am I doing? I'm increasing my understanding of scripture. And the more I increase in understanding of scripture, the more I experience the favour of God. There is no way I can remain on the same level.
It is my prayer, by the Spirit of God, that as you increase in understanding of scripture, you also increase in understanding of favour.
*Finding Favour and Good Understanding*
Proverbs 3:4 says,
> "So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man."
We see that good understanding and finding favour are connected. There are people who do not experience favour before God or before man simply because they lack understanding. I've met people who are born again and prayerful, but they do not understand certain scriptural principles and that lands them in hardship.
*How to Have a Good Understanding of Scripture*
Somebody is asking, "How can I have a good understanding of scripture?" The beginning of everything is the fear of the Lord. Psalm 111:10 says,
> "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever."
Do you see that? The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and a good understanding belongs to those who do His commandments. You connect to good understanding through committed obedience to the scriptures. There are many believers who are accumulators of scripture but do not put those scriptures to work. Every scripture you obey opens you up to a new level of understanding.
It is my prayer that as you go through this teaching, you will increase in the understanding of scriptures as far as favour is concerned.
🔑 *Key Thought*
Favour is not random, it flows from understanding. The depth of your knowledge of God's Word determines the depth of favour you walk in. You cannot occupy a realm of favour your understanding has not opened the door to.
🙏 *Prayer*
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which is the fountain of favour in my life. I ask that You open my eyes to understand Your scriptures at a deeper level. In Jesus' name. Amen
🗣️ *Confession*
I am a student of the Word of God.
My understanding of scripture is increasing daily, and as it increases, the favour of God upon my life increases.
I do not wait for favour, I activate it through obedience to the Word and through giving.
I walk in high-voltage favour in the sight of God and man, in Jesus' name. Amen!
