Put God First—Even When Life Doesn’t Make Sense
There’s a version of faith that sounds good in church but struggles in real life.
It’s easy to say “God over everything” when things are working.
When money is coming in, when plans are clear, when life feels stable.
But what about when nothing is working?
When you’re trying, praying, pushing—and still not seeing results?
That’s where this statement gets tested.
What Does “God Over Everything” Really Mean?
It doesn’t mean life will be perfect.
It means God stays first:
When you’re confused
When you’re delayed
When you’re doubting
It means you don’t move God to second place just because life got hard.
A lot of people don’t lose faith—they just slowly replace it with worry, control, and fear.
The Real Struggle: Trust vs Control
Most of us don’t have a discipline problem—we have a control problem.
We want:
Clear timelines
Guaranteed outcomes
Immediate answers
But faith doesn’t work like that.
Philippians 4:6 says not to be anxious about anything, but to bring everything to God in prayer. That sounds simple—but it’s not easy.
Because it means:
Letting go of overthinking
Letting go of forcing outcomes
Letting God handle what you can’t
When God Feels Silent
This is where most people fall off.
You pray. Nothing changes.
You wait. Still nothing.
And slowly, you start thinking: “Maybe this isn’t working.”
But silence is not absence.
God is not reacting to your timeline. He’s working with a bigger picture you don’t fully see yet.
Look at Joseph in the Bible:
Betrayed
Sold
Imprisoned
For years, nothing made sense.
But everything was building toward something bigger.
Stay Rooted, Not Reactive
Psalm 1 describes a person who trusts God like a tree planted by water—steady, consistent, and fruitful.
Not because life is easy.
But because their foundation is strong.
That’s the goal: Not emotional faith.
Not situational faith.
But rooted faith.
What You Should Actually Do
Keep it simple and real:
Pray even when you don’t feel like it
Stay consistent, not perfect
Trust God even when results delay
Stop measuring God by your current situation
Faith grows in consistency, not intensity.
